Hi. I'm Nicolette, a Victoria, BC based makeup artist, and I specialize in the art of transformation. I believe everyday that we wake up, we're presented with the opportunity to choose what "character" that we'll be for the day. The act of getting dressed - wardrobe, make up, hair - is a form of personal expression, and it should be fun and inspiring! 

 

I've worked for over 15 years as an interior designer & visual merchandizer, creating visual concepts and stories, before really exploring makeup. I only began to appreciate the powers of makeup artistry when around age 30, I experienced the sudden onset of Rosacea, a skin condition that covered my face in red spots and bumps. Prior to this, I wore no makeup. When Rosacea was new to me, I would look in the mirror and not even recognize myself.

However, as a creative person, I sought and found the solution: makeup artfully applied made me feel like my old self and helped me regain my confidence. And it could be glamorous. Or natural. Or mysterious... With this new set of tools, I could be whoever I wanted to be and I wanted to help others feel this way too!

To learn the art, I was very lucky to have the opportunity to apprentice with some amazing professionals, including Melanie Baird. With almost 20 years experience, Melanie is rich in skill and knowledge and I continue to work and learn with her today. I gained further experience as a makeup artist with Sappho Cosmetics & Elate Cosmetics, which reinforced the idea that beautiful makeup doesn't need to be harmful to your body or the environment. Over the last 5+ years working as a freelance artist, I've helped people look and feel their best for special events, weddings, photo shoots, film and for day-to-day.
